A generous supporter of EnviroLab, the Environmental Innovations Initiative is dedicated to leveraging Penn’s considerable academic strengths to meaningfully impact the critical environmental challenges of our time.

Fossil Free Penn is a student-led climate justice activist group demanding that Penn divest its endowment from fossil fuels and reinvest in clean, just solutions.

The Kleinman Center’s mission is to create the conditions for policy innovation that support a just and efficient transition to sustainable energy.

The McHarg Center’s mission is to develop practical, innovative ways of improving the quality of life in the places most vulnerable to the effects of climate change.

EnviroLab, while interdisciplinary, is generously hosted by the Department of Anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania. The department is home to a cluster of faculty and students focused on environmental anthropology.

The Department of Earth and Enviro Science at Penn. The mission of their department is to bring the time perspective of the Earth scientist/historian to bear on contemporary problems of natural-resource conservation and environmental quality. 

Perry World House’s mission is to bring the academic knowledge of the University of Pennsylvania to bear on some of the world’s most pressing global policy challenges, and to foster international policy engagement within and beyond the Penn community

The Socio-Spatial Climate Collaborative, or (SC)², is a hub for critical social science research on the climate emergency, based in the University of Pennsylvania’s Population Studies Center. (SC)² aims to deepen understanding of the intersection of social, health, and environmental inequalities in the built environment all over the world, with an eye to public engagement and informing policy.

Founded in 2014, the Penn Program in Environmental Humanities (PPEH) fosters interdisciplinary environmental collaboration and scholarship at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, and beyond.
